Our First Mission Transfer, 4-8-26 This is our third senior mission and two weeks ago we experienced our first transfer. For the first five months of our mission, we lived in Mendoza (see red marking above). This was close to the mission office and the temple. Two weeks ago, we were transfered to Malargue (lower left of above map).  We are now about 3.5 hours south of the temple which is about the same distance we were south of the temple in Chile. President and Sister Ingersoll had talked to us in January about considering the possibility of going to Malargue. At the time it felt right to us, but he wanted us to go visit and see what we thought. We combined it with some apartment inspection visits a month later. It is a beautiful area, close to the mountains and skiing. A lot of the economy is tourist based. We will have snow in the winter. The stake president has been asking for a Senior Missionary couple for three years to help the branch in Malargue.  It is actually...

Some Interesting Take-aways from a Member's Funeral, April 15, 2026 This past week Diana, a member of our branch passed away. She was the only member of her family who was a member of our Church. In deference to her beliefs and those from our branch who knew and loved her, they invited us to participate. We sang two hymns together and I was asked to dedicate the "grave" which ended up being a mausoleum.  Here, we just wanted to share the look of the cemetery that is different from what we are used to. This is a photo of one section of a mauselum where flowers and photos were the main decorations. Here they had glass encased areas with different kinds of decorations. Here we see monuments built on many of the graves. We understand that here you have to pay rent on the area where your loved one is interred. If that is the case, these people's relative must be paying for a long time.

San Rafael Stake Conference, April 18 & 19 After the evening adult session of our stake conference with members of the Malargue Branch that drove with us. Hermana Martinez-RS President, Hermana Marinotti-YW President and Noe-Branch Secretary/Clerk. The man on my left, Gerry, supports the mission in the south. He brought the loveseat, fan and clothes washer to our new apartment. We enjoyed each other's company, so he invited us to his house for lunch after stake conference. His favorite English phrase is "Oh, boy!!" They made a bunch of empenadas which we really enjoyed. We enjoyed visiting with him and his family even more. They have four delightful children.

Time with Friends at San Martin Park -  March 29, 2026 To my right is Nelly. She just turned 90 a couple of weeks ago. To my left is her daughter, Anni. We have enjoyed visiting them several times in their home and they are always such good hostesses. We will miss not being able to visit them as often.   Directly behind me is Ana Laura, Anni's daughter. She is with a friend who lives in Mendoza.                     Both Nelli and Anni are quite skilled at various forms of needlework and knitting.
