Our First Mission Transfer, 4-8-26
This is our third senior mission and two weeks ago we experienced our first transfer. For the first five months of our mission, we lived in Mendoza (see red marking above). This was close to the mission office and the temple. Two weeks ago, we were transfered to Malargue (lower left of above map). We are now about 3.5 hours south of the temple which is about the same distance we were south of the temple in Chile.
President and Sister Ingersoll had talked to us in January about considering the possibility of going to Malargue. At the time it felt right to us, but he wanted us to go visit and see what we thought. We combined it with some apartment inspection visits a month later. It is a beautiful area, close to the mountains and skiing. A lot of the economy is tourist based. We will have snow in the winter. The stake president has been asking for a Senior Missionary couple for three years to help the branch in Malargue.
It is actually a good-sized branch, but needs more Priesthood, etc. to become a ward. We are looking forward to working with the members, especially a lot of youth converts. I was asked to be the 1st Counselor in the Branch Presidency, to help with training and support. I am enjoying that. Mary is the branch pianist.
