Malargue - Our New Home? 2/10/26
Malargue is a touristy city, with skiing in the winter, in the southwest corner of our mission. This is the visitors' center. It seems likely that we will be transfered here to support the branch in its efforts to become a ward.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and ordered hamburgers. How are they different? You will notice the fried egg on top and, if you look closely, you will see a slice of ham on the bottom. Delicious!
Part of the drive home reminded us of some parts of Arizona. These are a portion of the Andes surrounded by dry climate growth, although it was a dusty day, and it is a little greener.
The mission president asked us to take a detour on the way home to pick up a sister from Peru who is heading home. On our way, we got a flat tire and I found the theft-proof lug nut impossible to loosen. I tried everything I could think of without success. After two hours, the office elders sent someone to help us and their power tools did the job. We were pleased that the sister from Peru had a bright orange suitcase so as to catch the attention of those driving by.
If we do move, I will miss the streets of Mendoza which are line with large, beautiful trees.

Dear Elder and Sister Lunt (aka Ned & Mary from Tempe 1st Ward!!!) It was awhile back that we had a chance meeting in the Bountiful Temple. So glad you stopped me!!! I was reading yesterday about new mission presidents called and there was a picture of your daughter and husband being called to serve in Mongolia!!! I realized it was your daughter when the information said she was the daughter of Terrance Ned Lunt and Mary Bushman Lunt from Utah. I looked her up on facebook to try to make sure her parents were really you....and that led me to look at both of your facebook pages. That's what led me to your mission blog!!! 3 senior missions---well done! -- and back to Ned's youth mission location! That's so special! Lots of adventures ahead just like your Guatemala mission. We served in Adelaide, Australia which included the north coastal city of Darwin, where we spent 10 months supporting a branch. That gives me lots of understanding of what your experiences will be going forward. So happy for you. Your mission president is fortunate to have you both. Mary, I had forgotton or didn't realize your maiden was Bushman. When we left Tempe in 1983 and moved to Snowflake for Steve's 1st city management job, we lived in a house quite close to Nephi & Maxine Bushman. Somewhere along the pedigree line you are probably related. May Heaven's blessings attend you with good health and safety along with your posterity back in the states. Sending our love, Steve & Pam Thacker
